The OMS+ protocol (also called “S7CommPlus” or “S7-2”)
OMS
“OMS” refers to Siemens' Open Modular Systems project, a communication protocol for industrial automation.
OMS serves as a communication interface between desktop applications and industrial automation devices, e.g., in the Siemens TIA Portal and in modern PLCs such as the S7-1500 family. OMS provides a clear and powerful communication interface for industrial automation, such as between PLCs and HMI/SCADA systems.
OMS is a component based software package. Components are deployable for operating systems Windows and Linux.
OMS provides security mechanisms to ensure that connection and modification inside devices are safe.
OMS builds on S7DOS - the communication layer for all Siemens software products.

The server part of OMS is available in modern PLCs such as the S7-1500 family.
