The Project Inception process consists of the two activities Specify and Plan.

Before a project starts, Project Inception is used to understand the customer's requirements, develop a solution concept, estimate the required effort, and prepare a quotation.

Project Inception does not end when the project starts. During the Project Delivery Cycle, new information, refined requirements, technical findings, or changing priorities may require the team to revisit the Specify and Plan activities. This iterative feedback loop ensures that the project plan remains realistic and aligned with the current state of the project.
